Solar production and storage under one controller
Power-Box SH4.6K connects photovoltaic modules, a compatible battery and a single-phase electrical installation. Its 4.6 kW rating determines continuous AC output; energy available for evening use and outages depends on the connected battery capacity and operating settings. This offer supplies the specified inverter as an individual system component.
Two MPPTs for the PV design
Two independent MPPTs each accept one string. This model supports an array up to 8280 Wp, an MPPT range of 80–550 V and a start-up voltage of 120 V. Each tracker allows 16 A operating current and 24 A short-circuit current. String design accounts for open-circuit voltage at the local minimum temperature and the actual module currents.
Battery selection based on the whole system
The current V2.5 datasheet lists BYD Battery-Box HVE, HVB, HVM+ and HVS+. Select module count and the appropriate control unit so system voltage, BMS communication and firmware match the inverter. Maximum charging and discharging current is 35 A; actual power also depends on battery voltage, BMS limits and system settings.
Grid charging and energy priorities
Self-Consumption supplies local loads first, then charges the battery and finally exports to the grid. Grid First prioritises export after local consumption. Battery charging from the grid is also supported; configure operation and energy priorities for the actual supply point. Metering provides consumption information and enables export control.
Dedicated EPS backup output
The backup output supplies 4600 W continuously and 9200 VA for 10 seconds. The datasheet specifies transfer below 13 ms and voltage distortion below 2 %. Design backed-up circuits with a compatible battery around simultaneous demand and starting loads. The manual specifies combined inductive and capacitive load power up to 0.5 times the inverter rating.
Metering and communications
The standard DDSU666 meter uses RS485 to measure the direction and magnitude of grid flow. The manual includes a BMS cable in the standard package. The communication area distinguishes BMS, EMS, METER and parallel connections. Manufacturer-listed interfaces are Wi-Fi, LAN, Bluetooth, RS485 and CAN; choose and commission the actual connection for the installation.
BYD Energy App overview
BYD Energy App supports local and remote visibility of operating data, alarms and software versions. Commissioning includes grid and communication settings and checking current firmware. OTA updates and remote diagnosis are supported by the manufacturer.
Quiet operation and IP65 protection
Natural convection removes heat without a fan; the manufacturer specifies noise below 25 dB. The enclosure measures 480 × 480 × 180 mm and weighs 20 kg. Inverter operating temperature is −25 to +60 °C, relative humidity 0–100 % without condensation and maximum altitude 4000 m. The connected battery follows its own temperature specification.
Mounting and electrical integration
Install on a firm, fire-resistant structure with reliable protective earthing and space for airflow. The manual permits vertical mounting or a backward tilt up to 15° and recommends a sheltered indoor or outdoor position. Grid, EPS, PV, battery and protection devices form a professionally designed electrical installation. Supply is focused on equipment and matching system components.
Expansion and integrated protection
The manual supports parallel operation of up to three inverters according to system wiring and configuration. Integrated functions include insulation and residual-current monitoring, anti-islanding, overcurrent, short-circuit and overtemperature protection. DC surge protection is type II and AC surge protection type III.
Choose power and operating duration together
Estimate simultaneous consumption and starting demand first, then calculate required kWh from operating duration. Power-Box SH4.6K provides 4.6 kW rated output; select stored energy with a suitable battery. Modules, inverter, battery, metering and protection are chosen as one compatible system. Use the Batterado product enquiry for a specific configuration.
